Konfigurationssoftware WINGATE

The software WINGATE® is a configuration software for Deutschmann UNIGATE®-devices. A detailed description of the functions listed below can be found in Manual for WINGATE®.

Device Configuration

The device configuration maybe done via Application Interface (RS232) or via Debug-Interface.

Application Interface (RS232)

  1. Install WINGATE and start.
  2. At the first start will open a "dialog window" showing the note that the acutal selected COM-Port does not exist. Please confirm this dialog window with "OK".
  3. Via the menue item "Options""Port" select the used COM-Port. If there exists no real COM-Port at the PC, an USB-to-RS232 converter is needed.
  4. After that the UNIGATE® has to be connected via Application Interface (RS232) and to be started in Configuration Mode (Rotary switches S4 + S5 set to "FF"). WINGATE will show the startup message of the UNIGATE®.
  5. Via the menue item "File""Upload" the configuration of UNIGATE® can be read now.
  6. Via the menue items "more items visible" und "more items editable" more parameters (if available) are shown and maybe changed.
  7. Via the menue item "File""Download" the changed configuration now can be loaded into the UNIGATE®.
  8. Via the menue item "File""Save as" the configuration of UNIGATE® can be saved and filed.
  9. Done.

Debug Interface

  1. Install WINGATE and start.
  2. At the first start will open a "dialog window" showing the note that the acutal selected COM-Port does not exist. Please confirm this dialog window with "OK".
  3. Via the menue item "Options""Port" select the used COM-Port. If there exists no real COM-Port at the PC, an USB-to-RS232 converter is needed.
  4. After that the UNIGATE® has to be connected via Debug Interface and to be started in Data Exchange Mode (Rotary switches S4 + S5 set to "00").In the status bar will appear the message "Device started in WINGATE-Mode".
  5. Via the menue item "Extras""Upload_Config_Debug" the configuration of the UNIGATE® can be read. A "dialog window" will show up with the note: "Restart UNIGATE in Run-Mode and confirm". Before to be able to confirm this "dialog window" with "OK", UNIGATE® has to be started again. Only when in the status bar the message will appear "Device starting in WINGATE-Mode" , this "Dialog Window" maybe confirmed with "OK". Now the upload will be processed. During this process the message "Upload" will be shown in the status bar. After a successfull upload will appear the message "Upload finished" in the Status bar.
  6. Via the menue items "more items visible" und "more items editable" more parameters (if available) are shown and maybe changed.
  7. Via the menue item '"Extras""Download_Config_Debug" the changed configuration now can be loaded into the UNIGATE®. A "dialog window" will show up with the note: "Restart UNIGATE in Run-Mode and confirm". Before to be able to confirm this "dialog window" with "OK", UNIGATE® has to be started again. Only when in the status bar the message will appear "Device starting in WINGATE-Mode" , this "Dialog Window" maybe confirmed with "OK". Now the download will be processed. During this process the message "Downloading..." will be shown in the status bar. After a successfull upload will appear the message "Download finished" in the status bar.
  8. Via the menue item "File""Save as" the configuration of the UNIGATE® can be saved and filed.
  9. Done.

Script loading

  1. Install WINGATE and start.
  2. At the first start will open a "dialog window" showing the note that the acutal selected COM-Port does not exist. Please confirm this dialog window with "OK".
  3. Via the menue item "Options""Port" select the used COM-Port. If there exists no real COM-Port at the PC, an USB-to-RS232 converter is needed.
  4. After that the UNIGATE® has to be connected via Application Interface (RS232) and to be started in Configuration Mode. WINGATE will show the startup message of the UNIGATE®.
  5. Then start the UNIGATE® in Configuration-Mode. WINGATE will show the startup message of the UNIGATE®.
  6. Via the menue item "File""Write Script" the needed script (*.dcs) can be selected and is loaded thereafter directly into the UNIGATE®.
  7. After that the UNIGATE® will start automatically new and displays a new startup message.
  8. Done.

Loading Firmware Script Extension

  1. WINGATE® installieren und anschließend starten.
  2. Beim erstmaligen Starten öffnet sich ein "Dialogfenster" mit dem Hinweis, dass der aktuell eingestellte COM-Port nicht existiert. Diese Dialogfenster mit "OK" bestätigen.
  3. Über den Menüpunkt "Options""Port" muss der verwendete COM-Port ausgewählt werden. Wenn kein echter COM-Port mehr am PC vorhanden ist, wird ein USB-RS232-Konverter benötigt.
  4. Danach muss das UNIGATE® über die Applikationsschnittstelle (RS232) angeschlossen und im Konfigurationsmodus (Drehkodierschalter S4 + S5 auf "FF") gestartet werden. In WINGATE® erhält man die Einschaltmeldung des UNIGATE®.
  5. Über den Menüpunkt "Extras""Firmware script extension" kann die entsprechende Firmware Script Extension ausgewählt werden. Es erscheint das Fenster Extension Dlg in dem die ausgewählte Firmware Script Extension geprüft wird.
  6. Erscheint die Meldung "File read without errors" kann die Firmware script extension über die Schaltfläche write extension in das UNIGATE® geladen werden.
  7. Abschließend muss zunächst ein weiteres Fenster über die Schaltfläche OK und anschließend das Fenster Extension Dlg über die Schaltfläche close geschlossen werden.

Gerätebeschreibungsdatei erzeugen

Mit WINGATE® können auch Gerätebeschreibungsdateien erzeugt werden. Voraussetzung dafür ist, dass das „Universalscript Deutschmann“ im UNIGATE® geladen ist. Hinweis: Die mit WINGATE® erzeugte Gerätebeschreibungsdatei kann auch für UNIGATE®-Geräte verwendet werden, bei denen im Anschluss ein kundenspezifisches Script geladen wird. Voraussetzung dafür ist allerdings, dass nur die Feldbus-Eingangs-Daten-Länge und die Feldbus-Ausgangs Daten-Länge konfiguriert werden. Außerdem muss der „Product-Code“ in der Gerätebeschreibungsdatei mit der Artikel-Nr. (Vxxx) des verwendeten UNIGATE® verglichen werden. Diese müssen identisch sein.

  1. WINGATE® installieren und anschließend starten.

  4. Danach muss das UNIGATE® über die Applikationsschnittstelle (RS232) angeschlossen und im Konfigurationsmodus (Drehkodierschalter S4 + S5 auf "FF") gestartet werden. In WINGATE® erhält man die Einschaltmeldung des UNIGATE®.
  5. Über den Menüpunkt "File""Upload" kann nun die Konfiguration des UNIGATE® ausgelesen werden.
  6. Über die beiden Felder "more items visible" und "more items editable" können (falls vorhanden) weitere Parameter angezeigt und geändert werden.
  7. Im Anschluss müssen die Datenlängen des Feldbus-Eingang und des Feldbus-Ausgang festgelegt werden. Die Länge muss über die Parameter "Blocklength fieldbus input"' und "Blocklength fieldbus output" eingetragen werden.
  8. Über den Menüpunkt "Options""Generate... File" kann dann eine Gerätebeschreibungsdatei erzeugt werden.
  9. Über den Menüpunkt "File""Download" kann nun die geänderte Konfiguration in das UNIGATE® geladen werden. Hinweis: Die erzeugte Gerätebeschreibungsdatei muss mit der Gerätekonfiguration des UNIGATE® übereinstimmen.


Reset Device

  1. Install WINGATE and start.
  2. At the first start will open a "dialog window" showing the note that the acutal selected COM-Port does not exist. Please confirm this dialog window with "OK".
  3. Via the menue item "Options""Port" select the used COM-Port. If there exists no real COM-Port at the PC, an USB-to-RS232 converter is needed.
  4. After that the UNIGATE® has to be connected via Application Interface (RS232) and to be started in Configuration Mode (Rotary switches S4 + S5 set to "FF"). WINGATE will show the startup message of the UNIGATE®.
  5. Then start the UNIGATE® in Configuration-Mode. WINGATE will show the startup message of the UNIGATE®.
  6. Via the menue item "Options""Reset Device" the reset can be carried out now.
  7. The then opening dialog window should be confirmed with "Ja" only if the "Reset Device" really should be carried out. The loaded script will be deleted. Note for UNIGATE® CL: From version V2.64 the Universalscript Deutschmann will remain on the device, if this was loaded to it before "Reset Device"is executed.
  8. Done.
